There are a few positives, if any, coming out of this pandemic. One of them is me focusing more on my hair and skin care routine.
I recently learned about Briogeo’s hair products on Instagram thanks to Sai De Silva, from Scout the City. So I thought I’d give a try and purchase during Sephora’s VIB sale.
I ended up buying their Scalp Therapy Essentials Kit, Merry Multi-Masking Kit, Organic Cold Pressed Castor Oil, and Don’t Despair Repair Shampoo. The beauty of all of Briogeo’s products is they have a natural and clean approach with what they call their “6-freeTM Clean Methodology.” This means no harsh sulfates, silicones, phthalates, parabens, DEA, and artificial dyes.
I started first using the Briogeo Organic Cold Pressed 100% Castor Oil to help promote hair growth on my eyebrows, lashes, and uneven hair line. I wasn’t expecting that it would do much because I’ve tried castor oil from other brands before and didn’t see much of a difference. So a week later to my surprise when I saw new tiny baby hairs sprouting on my brows I was shocked. I’m also having my husband try it out on his beard to help boost growth in any patch areas. We’ll see if I get any luck on my hair line and lashes!
The next product I used was the Scalp Therapy Essentials Kit. This kit comes with a shampoo, conditioner, treatment oil, and a massager brush. Let me just say — it works! If you have dandruff, dry flakey scalp or an oily scalp due to product buildup then this is for you! The shampoo has microbeads so it’s an automatic massage in the shower. My hair was so squeaky clean that the double shampoo wash that most hair stylists recommend was definitely not needed. The charcoal definitely does the magic in the shampoo with lifting all impurities. The best part about this kit (depending on who you are in regards to temperature preferences) is the cooling jelly conditioner. It was like a cryotherapy session for your head with the peppermint oil as an added ingredient. I could see this being SO nice for showers after a hot yoga session, intense workout, or just a hot summer day. The oil after the shower was nice too and not too greasy (you only apply 1-2 drops) but I didn’t feel like it did much for my scalp. The massager I could use all day! I usually wear my hair up so a massager definitely hits all the pressure points from being tied up all day.
And lastly, the Merry Multi-Masking Kit and Don’t Despair Repair Shampoo. I haven’t used all of the masks yet, but the Deep Conditioning Mask was definitely very effective after leaving it in the shower for 10 minutes and I saw the results quickly. Typically with my wavy hair texture I can’t really run my fingers through my wet hair. So to be able to do that after the hair mask is a win for me and just goes to show that the mask was doing it’s job! I’ll update this post once I reach a verdict on the Honey and Avocado+Kiwi masks as well but they smell great from when I did the sniff test. I also haven’t used the Don’t Despair Repair Shampoo, but given the results from the mask I have high expectations that it will deliver!
So, if you’re in the market for cleaner, more reliable hair products and willing to pay a little extra — checkout Briogeo!
