Earlier this year when quarantine started you probably took a stab at making banana bread, cleaning out your closet, or maybe did something less effortless and binged your favorite TV show. If you’re like me you may have decided to redecorate your entire living room. With several countries and states going back into lockdown, here are a few ways to keep the quarantine blues away as we approach the holidays:
Virtual Spa Day
I recently was gifted my very first facial, that too my first virtual facial! Alchemy Face Bar allows you to choose from a variety of facial kits that ship directly to your home with the option to add on a virtual session with one of their estheticians. You can even add a rose quartz facial roller and headband wrap to your kit if you feel like splurging. These kits come with step-by-step instructions, so you can even do it all on your own.
Definitely worth it, leaves your face feeling like butter and the products can last you for up to 2-3 uses. A great gift to send to someone that needs some extra TLC too!
Decorate Your Own Cake
Unleash your inner Cake Boss! Cak the Bakery offers some fun cake decorating kits, starting at $49 per kit. Options include Caramel Drip Cake, Geode Cake, and even Ombre Cake. They can ship anywhere in the US for a $17 shipping fee.

Organize a Family/Friends (Virtual) Game Night
This one is simple and does not require spending any money and best part is you can add as many players located anywhere in the world to play with. If you’re using Zoom, the game options are endless:
- Virtual Bingo: Create a list of bingo items (numbers, words, categories — make your own spin). If you need a fun idea, create a list of things your friends/family have done during the pandemic or will do right after the pandemic is over. Then create a blank bingo card template (in a Word Doc or Google Doc) and allow each player to pick and place each number/word/category anywhere in the grid to create their own unique card. To ensure there’s no cheating, have each player email their completed card ahead of time to the organizer or game host. You’ll need to have the host ready with all the words/categories to randomly select from.
- Virtual Pictionary: Designate two teams and a list of pictionary words/phrases from easy to hard. Then, using the Zoom whiteboard tool set a 60 second timer for each player taking turns between teams. Decide on a prize or just give the winning team bragging rights.
- Speak Out: This one can’t be done virtually but is a hilarious game to play with a group, If you are quarantining with a group of 4 or more people. You’ve probably seen this game played by celebrities on the Ellen DeGeneres show and it quickly becomes quite slobbery, so have a napkin ready! The object of the game is for each player to take turns saying words or phrases with the mouthpiece. It looks easy but you quickly realize the importance of being able to move your lips. You can purchase the game on Amazon or a number of retailers for about $20 here.
Virtual Cooking Class
Take your cooking skills to the next level by taking a virtual Sur La Table cooking class. Options range from Cocktail Making, Surf and Turf, Holiday Tamales, and more. The best part is it’s priced as a “per household” package so you don’t have to pay per person if you want to make it a family activity.
